Mary Donnelly, Head of Primary

The Junior MBA programme is an excellent opportunity for students at Arcadia to develop their entrepreneurial and critical thinking skills. They are given the chance to explore the world of business and deepen their understanding of this whilst receiving guidance each step of the way to overcome and find solutions to any problems that may arise. The children are given the opportunity to develop their research, communication and creativity skills by creating a business idea on a topic that they are passionate about. Furthermore, the programme also teaches the children valuable life skills such as budgeting which will equip them for life as they grow older. A highlight of the programme for the children is listening to a variety of speakers who inspire and show that anything is possible if you work hard enough.

Sophie Reape, Key Stage 2 Teacher

The Junior MBA program is a fantastic opportunity for the pupils of Arcadia to learn business skills that they can use in the real world. The lessons encourage creativity, criticality, communication and collaboration. The pupils in my class look forward to the lessons each week and it is really insightful to hear about their interesting ideas on how they can make a difference in the world through linking their business ideas to the Sustainable Development Goals. It is truly a unique subject and the entrepreneurial skills learnt will take the pupils far.

Very engaging and informative. Mr Valrani has such an infectious enthusiasm which makes everyone one of us in the room feel that we can be successful entrepreneurs too!

In just two hours with Mr Valrani I learnt more about the stock exchange than I thought possible. Sufficiently tailored and simplified to ensure that we could all follow yet highlighting the key aspects for us to focus on. I now feel confident that my current approach of incremental index fund investments is the right one and am also keen to have a go at allocating a small percentage of my savings to some fun cherry-picking. My heartfelt thanks to Mr Valrani for dedicating his valuable time to educating the wider Arcadia community.

Deborah Morrison, Year 7 Parent

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for conducting such an important and useful course and more importantly, throwing it open to children from all over Dubai. It has been one of the most mentally stimulating courses for our son, one that he was very eagerly looking forward to week after week. The learning that he has taken has been immense. Courses such as these are life skills. Financial literacy is something no school teaches but one that is very much needed in the economically driven world we live in. So a very big thanks to you!

Suguna Venkatkrishna, Parent

Our son has just graduated from the Junior MBA by Navin Valrani at Arcadia School, Dubai. As a family of budding entrepreneurs, we saw enormous value in the curriculum and were very excited to see our son embrace life-learning topics he wouldn’t normally see in school. He was taught elements of crowdfunding, marketing, accounting and idea generation through consumer pain points, all incredibly helpful for a modern entrepreneurial future ahead. The course concluded with him having to present his idea to classmates, parents, the senior leadership team from Arcadia School and potential angel investors. Our son thoroughly enjoyed the course and we saw how he prepared himself for a world of opportunities ahead in life!

Julian Redman, Parent

We would like to pass our sincere gratitude for the whole family behind Junior MBA Program and specially to Mr. Navin. It had been quite a fantastic educational journey for Lamar and to us as her parents. We genuinely enjoyed the talks with Lamar over the weekend after each session and was really impressed with the quality and momentum of Lamar’s progress in understanding and analyzing multi-national companies financial data. It is really a huge accomplishment to see Lamar at this age formulating an opinion on specific stock future with evidence and bench marking proofs. We are really appreciative to Junior MBA Program that have nourished and provided Lamar with solid education in the business world. On behalf of our family, we would like to thank Mr. Navin for giving this opportunity to Lamar and to for being a wonderful Academic Advisor for our kids and all other Arcadians. Thank you!!

Mariam Wehbe, Parent

Today’s class was amazing for my daughter as well. As soon as she sat in the car she showed me her spreadsheet and was so proud of herself for putting all those numbers in with the formulae taught by you. She has been working on it ever since we’ve gotten home. This is such invaluable learning and I would like to thank you for this opportunity and get learning.

Shilpa Mahtani, Parent

It is every parents dream to see your child succeed in studies; and beyond that we seek for kids to have a real life experience and utilize their skills to progress in life through entrepreneurship and innovation. Junior MBA is a unique program that encourages creativity and builds enthusiasm. My daughter has been involved for the past 2 years with the program: it developed her critical thinking, her understanding of the marketing and business principles and encouraged her to present in a committee. This built up both her public speaking skills and confidence; and also made her really pay attention to all real life concepts. She is constantly seeking the niche for new products and services for her generation. This program should be taught across all schools.

Maria Medvedeva, Parent

I love that the children get an insight into business at such a young age, this was one of the reasons that we chose Arcadia. My daughter particularly loves the annual Junior MBA competition and coming up with business ideas and plans of her own. It is amazing seeing her progressing every year. The idea of becoming a successful entrepreneur has been firmly planted in her mind.

Nicole Selley, Parent

Many thanks. Also, I would like to take thIs opportunity to thank you for the great teaching in your junior MBA class. This class has been the most innovative class and has taught Valentina amazing information and also great skills. Valentina had the most positive experience at Arcadia: she grew not only academically but also gained so many wonderful skills and has had an amazing personal growth which is a testament to her great education at Arcadia. We can see that under your leadership and the great work of all the teachers and staff, Arcadia has become a real leading edge educational school and we are very grateful for that.

Nata Selmoni, Parent

It was an extreme honour to be the Founding Assistant Teacher of the region’s first Junior MBA programme taught in Arcadia. As much as I enjoyed teaching, I learnt a lot from every session. A 6-7 year old student presenting his/her business idea in front of the class was always a proud moment for the founder and me. ‘The Price is Right’ class activity was a super hit among the students. The programme is designed towards developing and shaping young minds to becoming future entrepreneurs.

Geeta Mohan, Founding Assistant Teacher and Ex-Programme Coordinator

The Junior MBA programme is a unique and exciting experience for children in Arcadia school. It gives all children experience of the business world and the skills needed to successfully create and present a business idea. The programme also helps build other skills such as creativity, communication, critical thinking and collaboration. The children are so motivated, engaged and excited for every lesson.

Emily Murphy, Key Stage 2 Teacher

It’s a privilege and an honour to be part of this unique programme shaping the future of the business world globally. The kids’ excitement and energy is so contagious and addictive that I walk out after every class counting the hours till the next one!

Pamela Chikhani, Teacher, Junior MBA

I think education for students is so important seeing as we are that is what determines the future of the wonderful world we live in. I for one, think it’s simply incredible how rapidly the young minds of the planet are developing and how much assistance from adults they are receiving!

Kylee Majkowski, Guest Speaker

The Junior MBA is a unique and rewarding feature of Arcadia’s curriculum. The program is designed to both support and challenge the students, giving them a good understanding of the business world and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Fun, informative and engaging, the program allows further opportunities for the children to embed their numeracy and literacy skills in both practical and theoretical contexts. The guest speakers further enrich the program and it is many of the children’s favourite subject. Personally, I have also learned a great deal through the program and I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such amazing young entrepreneurs

Bryan Cahill, Head of Year 4

students these days need more than just academic skills, they’re never too young to learn – proof of which you will find in Mr. Valrani’s Junior MBA classes that are informative, engaging and so much fun that the students don’t realise how much they’re learning along the way.

Rochelle Ebadian, Learning Support Teacher Year 4

I was so happy and pleased to observe and attend the Junior MBA programme this year. The sessions were very encouraging for students to build an entrepreneurial spirit. The programme helped them get updated on computer tools and applications, described some of the basic acronyms about financing and banking, and also presented the success of Apple’s long journey to reach their current position in the market. The programme helped the students to think big and imagine their future. It taught them to be “gritty” (with passion and perseverance to achieve their long-term goals). It encouraged them to build meaningful relationships through team activities. The Junior MBA is introducing and preparing a new generation of well-rounded young businesspeople. The students love it and were enthusiastic and motivated throughout the programme.

Roula Malek, Learning Support Teacher Year 4

It’s amazing to see students this age embrace the world of business and everything that comes with it. I love how excited they get when learning about spreadsheets, marketing, expenses and most of all, explaining what their incredible ideas are. Although they might not always exactly understand what they are doing, they have already made the biggest head start in becoming the entrepreneurs they will without a doubt one day be!

Lynn Lardot, Assistant Teacher Year 4

The Junior MBA programme is a creative and innovative addition to the curriculum. The students love planning their business ideas and it really helps to build their confidence when presenting to their peers and family members. Nurturing Lifelong Learning is at the heart of everything we do at Arcadia and through learning entrepreneurial skills from Year 3, we are preparing the students for the future in the ever changing business world.

Alice Foley, Head of Year 3, Arcadia School

The Junior MBA programme, put simply, is revolutionary. students are taught management and finance skills, that are not just pivotal for the aspiring business person, but begin to ready the students for the world of work. These essential life skills will be transferred, whether it be presenting a project at school, during a sales pitch at work or when making decisions as a manager. As well as this, students learn to understand expenditure, profit margins and marketing and promotion techniques which lay the foundations for the budding entrepreneur. The ground-breaking class also embeds core school subjects such as English and Mathematics; this is imparted in a fun, engaging and inspiring way such as persuasive sales pitches or calculating large company’s profits, such as Apple.

Liam Cain, Head of Year 5 & 6, Arcadia School

The Junior MBA programme is an outstanding opportunity for the students at Arcadia. The children learn skills that are crucial to the way the world is advancing. From my experience of being involved in the programme, I have seen the benefit of the curriculum first hand. It is modern and current. The children thoroughly enjoy the lessons and often comment on them being their favourite. It has been amazing to see the students develop transferrable skills. From a very young age, the children are able to take their initial ideas, follow a process, and present a thorough and sophisticated business plan. Our students progress through the curriculum, building on their prior knowledge, and advancing their skill set. Junior MBA prepares them for their life beyond schooling and supports our mission of “Lifelong Learning.

Lucy Grier, Key Stage 2 Teacher, Arcadia School

The Junior MBA programme is a unique programme available at Arcadia School. The programme nurtures tomorrow’s leaders by supporting them in developing skills for their future careers ensuring they are successful in these. The children gain skills and confidence through this course and the results when they reach the end and present their business ideas are astounding. Children who may struggle to speak publicly will stand up and share their ideas eagerly, showing the culmination of skills they have developed in previous weeks. Guest speakers, who are inspirational, visit the children and discuss their ups and down throughout their lives and career and answer the childrens’ questions, encouraging them to work towards their goals. As a teacher, I have found skills taught on the course beneficial to myself as well as the children and strongly believe this course is an amazing opportunity for anyone who has the chance to take part.

Eleanor Hickey, Key Stage 2 Teacher, Arcadia School

The Junior MBA programme is designed to nurture the leaders of tomorrow and ready them for an ever-changing job market. This innovational programme demonstrates that every child can have business acumen and can be an entrepreneur. Children were able to explore and develop a plethora of key skills in a fun and engaging way, which they implemented in all aspects of their learning and daily lives, whilst consistently being inspired by motivational guest speakers. From creatively designing and confidently pitching their own businesses in a field in which they are passionate about, to understanding the importance of social responsibility, the Junior MBA programme allowed children to obtain a higher sense of ownership of their development and thrive as confident leaders.

Muhsina Ferdousi, Key Stage 2 Teacher, Arcadia School

The Junior MBA programme is an exceptional learning experience for students. Students are given the opportunity to understand the business world at a level that is both exciting and engaging for them. The children are encouraged to think critically and plan effectively, whilst being provided with the right guidance to improve their business plan every step of the way. The confidence that I have seen grow in the children that take part in the Junior MBA programme is second to none. Students are taught business and life skills that not only prepare them for the working world but prepare them to be the leaders of the future.

Year 5 Student

I love Junior MBA because it has amazing work to do and Mr. Valrani is an amazing teacher. Mr Valrani is good in teaching and I love seeing Mr. Valrani.”

Amna, Year 3

I’m interested in the Junior MBA programme because I and you can come up with ideas together. You and myself can start a business by starting off with, for example, a pair of shoes. You can probably add a feature like a rocket shoes. If you pay someone AED 10 and then you can double it for people who want it. If you don’t do well, then double it again. If you get enough money, you can make another invention and get more money or go to a different country and get more people and more money.

Luca, Year 3

I like Junior MBA because Mr. Valrani teaches us how to use ‘Numbers’ to start our business

Hrishikesh, Year 3

I like the Junior MBA programme because Mr. Valrani Jr. takes some of his time to come to teach us. He taught us how to make spreadsheets, how to create our own business, how to market it and manage finance. He made the Junior MBA programme amazingly fun. He is also the CEO of the school.

Karim, Year 3

I love Junior MBA. It’s great, like super great, and really fun. It’s really cool that we get to imagine what you might be the business owner of one day. It’s so cool.

Kieran, Year 4

You learn what managers and senior managers need for making a company. Junior MBA shows how to make an impact. The junior MBA programme is very useful in life and is fun. It is like you are a mini boss!

Mia, Year 3

I like the Junior MBA programme because it gives students a big chance to develop their business skills and become an entrepreneur whilst many adults don’t have a chance to do so until a really late age.

Omar A, Year 5

Junior MBA is spectacular and amazing because l learned how to use a spreadsheet. That’s why I love Junior MBA.”

Fatima, Year 3

I like junior MBA because at an early age we learn about spreadsheets and economics. I think it’s good at an early age because we can memorise things easier and then we come up with better ideas quicker.

Mathilda, Year 5

I like Junior MBA because it helps us think big. It makes us feel proud of work.

Aden, Year 5

I like Junior MBA because it teaches me different topics about business and inspired me to be working with a partner to create six businesses that had been given awards for.

Omar K, Year 5

I like junior MBA because it helps us develop the concept of how to make a business when we grow up and become business people like our parents.

Ahmed, Year 5

I like Junior MBA because it makes students learn hard things that even teenagers don’t know. In the first class of Junior MBA I thought it would be about respecting others but, it turns out that I was wrong. We learned so many things here, one time we were discussing about what happens after high school and at the end Mr. Valrani asked what is a PhD. We all guessed, but none of us got it right. So he told us that after the Masters it was a PhD. If you get a PhD it means you are going to be a doctor. I asked my dad If he got a PhD and he did, so then I realised that we were learning really, really hard stuff. I think Junior MBA is the best class in the universe!

Lourdes, Year 4

I think Junior MBA is super-duper ultra-ultimate crazy awesome!

Will, Year 4

I like Junior MBA because I like to make ideas. I like how he teaches us. I never did Junior MBA before! And I like to do this.

Jimena, Year 5

I like Junior MBA because it takes a lifetime to get the experience of making and creating a business and this gives a head start. We also get a chance to make spreadsheets for our own creative business. It’s an amazing opportunity.

Naya, Year 5

I like junior MBA because we learn how to make our own business and make spreadsheets at a young age.

Valentina, Year 5

I love Junior MBA because I learn a lot. Some kids don’t have an opportunity to learn and they want to learn something and they want to be smart.

Arwa, Year 4

I like Junior MBA because it’s fun and I learn cool stuff that I’ve never learned before such as spread sheets! Did you know some things we learn in Junior MBA even our parents don’t know? Isn’t that awesome? I’m happy in Junior MBA class because my teacher is so nice, which is Mr. Valrani.

Mahmoud, Year 5

I like Junior MBA because we get to do our own ideas. When we grow up, then we will have our own money.

Raha, Year 3

I like the Arcadia Junior MBA class because it teaches us how to start our own business. It’s a privilege to be taught by the CEO of the Arcadia school. We get to use so many different apps that other schools probably don’t allow.

Maya, Year 4

I like Junior MBA because I never knew how to start a business. I never knew there were so many important things to start a business. I also never knew the CEO Mr. Valrani Jr. would take this lesson. I love it and it is awesome.

Nithilaa, Year 5

I like Junior MBA because it has lots of stuff to do and it has lots of knowledge for making your own business. Mr Valrani is a great teacher and I hope it is the best business ever.

Chiamaka, Year 3

I like Junior MBA because we learn all about business and spreadsheets at an early age, and most people learn about this when they are twenty or so! This is a unique opportunity for kids like us to get a head-start on our business dreams!

Arina Vaskova, Year 5

The Junior MBA program at Arcadia is an amazing and unique concept to teach the children about the basics of business very early in life. The course gives them an awareness on what to keep in mind when thinking of a business and its operations. The business plan competition is a great way to help children apply the concepts that they learn in class. Arcadia’s leadership team should be really proud that some other schools in Dubai are already thinking of introducing similar courses in their curriculum too.

Vinod, Parent

Thank you for sending us the periodic updates. Just wanted to let you know that Lisa looks forward to the weekly junior MBA classes. She has been able to use the points of your engaging lessons for her school work as well. Her confidence and outlook towards the way she does her homework and research has also changed. As a parent it’s really amazing to see how a child can change in a very short span of time. I believe this is a strong teacher skill and we appreciate every effort made and the classes taken.

Ajith Abraham, Parent

Jacob loves taking part in the Jr. MBA programme. It is a great way for him and the other young students to use their creative imaginations whilst developing entrepreneurial skills early.

Simon Wing, Parent Year 1 student

I’m glad to see a lot of positivity returning to Kanav after he joined Jr MBA classes. He was a bit depressed doing schooling from home as I was nervous about sending him to his school but knowing how carefully you have planned safety protocols in Neoversity and Arcadia, I had no such doubt in sending him here. I was sure that I made the right decision when he told me right after his first session with you ” I wish I could come here every day”. The content is great but more than the content it is the style the games, the videos and the superb storytelling from you that makes these classes so much more fun and enriching. The students are privileged to have a teacher like you. Thank you.

Manish Sharma, Parent

The Jr. MBA programme is a great idea, not just conceptually but also in its execution. It broadens the students’s horizons and develops them in ways not necessarily possible through their academic learning. The concepts, although typically for adults, are introduced to them in a manner that they can relate to. This course definitely gives them an advantage and helps prepare them for their future endeavours. I am really happy with it and I can see that my daughter, Nadia, is really benefiting from it.

Marwa Elkhedry, Parent

This is amazing! I absolutely love this concept. You are developing our leaders of the future. Great stuff!

Courtley Winter, Parent Year 4 student

Arwa was busy doing crafts after school and came up with her own currency! AC stands for Arwa Coins and AD for Arwa Dirhams. I don’t know exactly what her next steps were, but I figured it had something to do with trading the money with others at school. Each week when I read your updates, I feel like I need to join these classes. Thank you for this great opportunity!

Mufy Digeil, Parent Year 4 student

The Junior MBA is an innovative course that provides the opportunity for young students to learn ‘how to think and not what to think’. It has been delightful to see my students actively engaged in their learning whilst developing their academic, social and emotional skills. Junior MBA is a reflection of Arcadia Preparatory School’s commitment to ‘nurture lifelong learning’ in their students.

Mahi, Parent

Chiamaka is really fascinated with the Jr. MBA classes. She is convinced she already knows how to run her own business. After showing me her spread sheet, she said “I’m So rich.” It’s great to see a school that does something different.

Uju Udu, Parent Year 3 student

It is such a privilege to teach such a unique course. Not only does it teach children the children aspects of business, but it inspires them, showing them that anything is possible. Furthermore, it teaches children so many valuable life skills such as budgeting, presentational, collaboration, and communication. One of the children’s favourite aspects is listening to different speakers to find out all about their journey.

Emma Brown, Key Stage 2 Teacher

The Junior MBA is an outstanding and innovative programme that cultivates the lifelong learning ethos of Arcadia. In Junior MBA, they loved designing their own business plan! By doing this, they developed their research, presentation and investigative skills, as they had to ensure their product would stand out! These entrepreneurial skills are essential for any profession the students choose to venture into their future lives!

Donal Devenney, Key Stage 2 Teacher

“The Junior MBA programme is delivered at Arcadia to facilitate the leaders of the future and ready them for the fast paced world of business we live in. This creative programme allows children to take a step into entrepreneurship and understand how a successful business starts and grows. Children are able to explore and develop a range of key skills in a fun and engaging way, whilst engaging in the opportunity to meet inspirational speakers from around the world, asking questions about their experience and mindset when starting and running a successful business. The Junior MBA programme offers opportunities for all children to show creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking; integrating Arcadia’s Key Learning Skills into this unique programme. There are also competitions across the year, including designing and pitching their own business ideas in an area the children are most passionate about.”

Charlotte Corkhill, Key Stage 2 Teacher

Chris Shrubsole, Junior MBA Lead and Year 6 Teacher
